Numbing Cream Policy
Client policy — using topical numbing products before and during your appointment
At Bolchat Ink Concept, your comfort is important. Topical numbing products may be used for some appointments; however, they can affect the condition and response of the skin and are not suitable for every person, product or project.
Before your appointment
If you are considering using a numbing cream or other topical anaesthetic, please let Bolchat Ink know before your appointment. Clients should not use a numbing product without first informing the artist. Some products, formulations or application methods may temporarily alter the texture, appearance or sensitivity of the skin, which can affect the tattooing process and potentially the final result. Bolchat Ink may advise against numbing cream for a particular placement, design or session where it could interfere with the procedure.
Choosing and using a numbing product
Bolchat Ink does not prescribe numbing products or provide individual medical advice. If you choose to use a topical anaesthetic, you are responsible for ensuring that the product is suitable for you and obtained from a reputable source. It must be used strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions, including the recommended quantity, application area and application time.
Do not apply more product, leave it on for longer, cover a larger area, reapply it or combine different numbing products in an attempt to increase the effect. If you are unsure whether a topical anaesthetic is appropriate for you — particularly if you have allergies or sensitivities, take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an existing medical or skin condition — seek advice from a pharmacist or qualified healthcare professional before use.
On the day
Tell your artist the exact product used, approximately how much was applied, where it was applied and when it was applied. The skin will always be assessed before tattooing begins. If the area appears irritated, damaged, unusually pale or red, swollen, reactive or otherwise unsuitable following the use of a numbing product, Bolchat Ink may delay, modify, stop or reschedule the appointment where necessary for safety or the quality of the work.
During the session
The effectiveness and duration of numbing products vary between individuals, and Bolchat Ink cannot guarantee that the area will remain numb throughout the appointment. Additional numbing products should not be applied or reapplied during the session unless specifically discussed with your artist. If you experience unusual burning, severe irritation, dizziness, difficulty breathing, significant swelling or another concerning reaction, tell your artist immediately. Tattooing will be stopped where appropriate and medical assistance should be sought when necessary.
Client responsibility
By choosing to use a numbing product, you acknowledge that its effectiveness cannot be guaranteed; individual skin reactions may occur; inappropriate use may affect the skin and tattooing process; you are responsible for following the product instructions and determining whether it is suitable for you; and Bolchat Ink may decline to tattoo skin that is not in a suitable condition on the day.
Failure to tell Bolchat Ink that a numbing product has been used may result in the appointment being modified, postponed or discontinued if the skin cannot be tattooed safely or to the standard required. Our priority will always be to create your piece under conditions that support both your wellbeing and the best possible healed result.
